Cafe Mosaico’s philosophy is based on creating a memorable experience for all of our customers including our favorites: animals. We are an unofficial organization for the rescue, care, and adoption of street dogs in Ecuador. Through our Mican Project, we currently sponsor 12 dogs under our care and aid other private organizations that work for the well-being of street dogs. This was our friend Mican. Rescued from the streets of Quito, he became part of our Mosaico family. He was the happiest dog in the house, indeed he was the happiest dog in the neighborhood as he would accompany all the neighbors to their houses or on their walks! Like many dogs in our country, Mican was killed by poisoning. Guards from the neighboring park poisoned our friend because he would occasionally chase their motorcycles.
Our sadness was deep, especially because there was nothing we could do about it. Our country didn’t have laws to punish people who injured animals. Since his death, we decided to help more and so far have helped more than 30 dogs from the streets. We have given them the chance to be safe and healthy again. We have sterilized them and provided food and a temporary home for most. Some are still here. Presently we have 12 dogs and 5 cats in our cafe. In 2016 we officially made cafe Mosaico one of the few restaurants in Quito to be a pet-friendly place, incorporating a pet-friendly menu for our 4 legged friends.
Cafe Mosaico has created Mican Project to help raise funds for the aid of street dogs and cats. Donations are used for buying food, sterilization and medical aid. Donations are raised through projects and donations brought by customers at our restaurant in Quito. Stay updated for our upcoming projects! You can also become a Mican sponsor by writing us at email@example.com. or by donating through our fundraising.
